I replace my machine every few years. Until this one, I enjoyed using my De’Longhi. This version is the loudest one I have heard. You press a button to heat the water, but unlike the earlier ones it does not auto start the machine when warmed……you have to press the button again. And the lever to press the capsule into the slot is so hard and stiff that you have to use some force. And finally, the capsule container…..the outside grill (which you put down for an espresso) keeps on falling down into the lungo cup. This whole machine is sooooo annoying. I will be bringing out my old machine to use again.

I previously owned a Lavazza A Modo Mio machine (when I lived in the UK) and the coffee was very good. When it died after 10 years I bought this De’Longhi Nespresso Citiz Solo thinking that it would be comparable, but I mainly switched to Nespresso pods to take advantage of the multitude of pod varieties on the market in Australia.Well, what a disappointment – two things:1. Nespresso pods only have circa 5.5 gm’s of coffee versus a typical espresso shot having circa 11 gm’s – so basically half a shot; and2. The De’Longhi machine only extracts (the little coffee that exists) in the pod in a very, very watery manner….basically, if you were looking for a strong double-shot coffee and were prepared to use 4 pods (i.e. express them as half-shots), the machine would not produce a strong coffee – i.e. you would end up with 4 watery half-shots. And the cost of 4 pods is not far from the cost of a takeaway from your local cafe – so what’s the point?Summary: if you like strong, espresso style coffee, stay away from the Nespresso pod system all together – it will really disappoint.

Was a replacement for our older nespresso machine that was leaking(diff model). No leaks so far, was louder than our old machine, but nothing we can’t live with. Found pressing the small cup twice gave the right ammount of water compared to the large cup setting. Machine vibrates alot so the cup does move around a little, would have been great if the cup holder has rubber inserts for grip. Otherwise the machine is decent for the price.
